“St. Peter’s Lutheran Church still stands as a bold testimony to all that this is God’s land, and certainly, this was the assurance that our early pioneers had as they settled here. Into this church yard they flocked with their families, some having covered a distance of fifteen miles behind a team of horses. Many of them lived in sod shacks and broke up their acres of sod with ox teams and horses.”
